State Security and Peace Commission Member and Union Minister for Border Affairs and for Ethnic Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae attended the meeting with ethnic literature and culture associations in Mon State yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union minister explained the ongoing efforts of the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs for promoting unity, mutual respect, and cooperation among ethnic groups, fostering a strong Union spirit, ensuring that ethnic people fully enjoy their rights as prescribed by law, preserving and safeguarding the languages, literature, history, arts, cultural heritage, and traditional customs of ethnic nationalities and improving socioeconomic conditions such as education, healthcare, and transport in ethnic regions.
Deputy Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Zaw Aye Maung briefed on the salary increase for the ethnic language teachers and activities that should be done by the literature and culture associations.
The Union minister presented cash prizes to the Mon, Bamar, Kayin and PaO literature and culture associations and staff to promote and preserve the ethnic literature and cultures.
The Union minister visited the Women’s Domestic Vocational Training School in Mudon, heard reports from the relevant officials, inspected the school compound, and presented cash prizes to the staff and trainees.
Union Minister Lt-Gen Yar Pyae also met the staff at the Mon State Development Supervisory Office. During the meeting, the Union minister urged attendees to strictly adhere to the code of conduct and to carry out border region development activities, keeping in line with the ministry’s four objectives.
