Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing watched the final event of the Inter-Ministerial University Football Tournament 2024 at Wunna Theikdhi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon and awarded the champion team.
In the final match, football teams representing the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Border Affairs put pressure on each other to control the game, and both teams were able to reach the final match. Both teams could not break the deadlock of results till the end of the first half. In the 68th minute, the Ministry of Border Affairs’ team scored a single winning goal and led the match till the final whistle, claiming the champion of the tournament 2024.
After the final match, the Senior General presented a cash award and a championship trophy to the first prize-winning football team of the Ministry of Border Affairs.
Union ministers Dr Nyunt Pe and U Ko Ko Hlaing and SAC members U Yan Kyaw, U Shwe Kyein, Khun San Lwin, and Dr Ba Shwe presented best player awards in relevant places, the top scorer and the best player of the tournament to the winners, individual medals and cash awards to respective winners.
SAC members Daw Dwe Bu, Porel Aung Thein, and Dr Hmuh Thang gave individual medals and cash awards to players from the fourth, third, and second prize-winning teams representing the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation and the Ministry of Science and Technology respectively.
SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo handed individual medals to players from the Champion football team representing the Ministry of Border Affairs.
After the awarding ceremony, the Senior General cordially greeted the players. The final match was also attended by Union-level dignitaries, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command, deputy ministers and officials, and spectators.
A total of seven university football teams representing the Ministry of Border Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Health participated in the football tournament which lasted from 31 August to 9 September.
