MoBA Union Minister attends India’s constitution & federalism discussion

A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Border Af fairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung attended the Constitution and Federalism Conference in New Delhi on 5 and 6 November, at the invitation of the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA).

Upon arriving on 4 Novem­ber, the delegation was wel­comed by ICWA officials. The conference began on 5 Novem­ber with opening speeches from Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and ICWA Secretary Smt Nutan Kapoor Mahawar. Experts discussed the roles of the President and Governor under India’s Constitution and federal reorganization, with My­anmar delegates participating actively. 

On 6 November, dis­cussions continued on local self-government (Panchayati Raj system) and other constitu­tional matters. The delegation also met the Commissioner for Linguistic Minorities. 

On 5 and 6 November, the Myanmar delegation exchanged views on constitutional and fed­eral matters.
